With the Occupy Wall Street protests seemingly a thing of the past, Media Research Center President Brent Bozell did a post-mortem comparison of how the establishment news media covered the occupiers and the tea party.

The same outlets that urged civility and opposed heated rhetoric in the tea party praised the at-times outlandish behavior of the Occupy movement, Bozell said.

“Every time a conservative takes a stand on something that is in any way divisive … we’re given lectures on the need for civility. And you’ve heard all those lectures,” he told The Daily Caller’s Ginni Thomas. “Did you hear a single lecture from those same hypocrites about the need for civility when it came to those with Occupy Wall Street?”

“You never heard the Chris Matthews and the Olbermanns and all those people who are pontificating against the tea party, you’ve never heard them demand that these people show not just civility, but the maturity of a 12-year-old.”

The disparity, Bozell explained, is an example of the left-leaning bias of many news commentators and reporters.
