Obama for America teams up with Michael Jordan, others to play hoops for campaign cash

Obama for America’s latest donation ploy is dangling before supporters the possibility of playing basketball with major current and former members of the NBA and WNBA.

“Imagine shooting hoops with Carmelo Anthony, Patrick Ewing, Sheryl Swoopes, Kyrie Irving, and Alonzo Mourning. Oh, and you’ll get to meet President Obama and Michael Jordan over dinner, too,” Marlon Marshall, Obama for America’s deputy national field director, wrote in a Tuesday email to supporters.

For a donation of $3 or more supporters can have the chance of winning a night with the president and basketball royalty in what the campaign is calling the “Obama Classic.”

“Hit the court with Patrick Ewing and Melo? Trade stories with the President? This is the kind of stuff your kids will tell their kids, and no one will believe it until you show them a photo,” Marshall wrote, adding that winners can bring a child or a friend to cheer from the sidelines.

The fine print on Obama for America’s website pins the retail value of the prize at about $3,200.
