John Edwards will mistress miss the Democratic National Convention

As long as we’re talking about the “war on women” again, here’s an interesting item. Bad news for John Edwards fan(s) from the Weekly Standard:

When asked whether John Edwards has been invited to next month’s Democratic National Committee’s convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, a Democratic convention official had only one word for THE WEEKLY STANDARD: “No.”

Edwards, who represented North Carolina in the U.S. Senate from 1999-2005, was his party’s vice presidential nominee in 2004 presidential election. Edwards’s old running mate, however, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, has been invited to the convention and will be delivering a speech.

And Bill Clinton is the star attraction! (According to him, anyway.)

The whole John Edwards saga has been richly illuminating, and this latest development is no exception. Now we see just how low a Democrat has to sink before they cast him out. You can cheat on your wife in the White House; you can slander your fellow servicemen; you can even leave a woman to die in a car you drove off a bridge while you were drunk. But knock up your mistress on the campaign trail, behind the back of your dying wife? Hey, they have some standards, buddy!

Four years ago, Democrats wanted everybody to leave John Edwards alone. Now they want him to return the favor.
