In the first ad being run by Democrat Patrick Murphy, a political neophyte challenging Florida Republican Rep. Allen West, children repeat some of the insults that West has lobbed at Democrats.

During a Thursday conference call with reporters, West said that ad was “exploiting children.”

In the ad, kids quote West telling Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, “you are not a lady.” They also quote a post West wrote on Red County, in which he refers to “anyone with an Obama 2012 bumper sticker” as “a threat to the gene pool.”

“Allen West said all these things and worse. But bullying and name calling has no place on the playground or in Congress,” says Murphy in the ad.

“You need a time out!” a young girl gleefully tells West.

Reacting to West’s criticism of the ad, Murphy communications director Erin Moffet told TheDC, “It’s remarkable that Allen West thinks the things he says as a Congressman are so inappropriate that children can’t even say them.”

On Thursday West also attacked an ad featuring an animation of the Republican congressman in a boxing ring, fighting seniors and women.

West called the ad, launched by the Murphy-supporting super PAC American Sunrise, “racist” and “misogynist.” The super PAC is run in part by Murphy’s father.

“Our opponent wants to pay the political gimmicks games,” West said, promising he would continue to “focus on the issues.”

“What we want to continue to do is take the high ground and show them as desperate as they are and draw people to our message,” West said. “And, understand there’s a 35 to 40 percent out there that’s probably happy with the Obama way of governing this country, and all we can do is save them from themselves.”
