Protester tries to bring machete into Republican National Convention

No, not a DVD of Danny Trejo’s 2010 pseudo-grindhouse flick Machete. An actual machete. Bay News 9 in Tampa reports:

A Republican National Convention protestor was arrested while he allegedly carried a machete strapped to his leg, according to deputies.

According to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s officials, Jason T. Wilson, of Tallahassee, was arrested as he walked in the RNC Event Zone carrying a “full size” machete.

When deputies approached Wilson, they said he continued to walk away despite orders to stop.

“When deputies caught up to Wilson, he advised he did not have to stop and that he was allowed to carry whatever he wanted,” HCSO spokesperson Larry McKinnon said.

When deputies attempted to physically stop him, Wilson allegedly began resisting arrest and was physically restrained.

Sheesh. First they take away your nail clippers before you get on a plane. Now you can’t walk into a convention center full of people with a machete strapped to your leg? The dude was just protecting himself. That place is swarming with Republicans!

A few years back, MSNBC tried to make a big deal out of a guy with an assault rifle outside an Obama event. (They also tried to say he was a racist, which was weird because they specifically cropped the footage to hide the fact that he was black, but that’s another story.) That happened outside the event, and it was legal. This brainiac walked into the event. And when the cops told him to stop, he resisted them. Other than that, the two situations are exactly the same, and you should definitely let your liberal friends gloat at your hypocrisy and whatnot.

“Why are you complaining about this and not that, wingnut?”
“Because you’re a genius with a finely tuned sense of proportion, that’s why.”

And speaking of those who wish harm on other people for daring to disagree with them:

Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has since apologized. But she can’t unsay it. And it won’t be forgotten.
