RNC to mystery speaker: Go ahead, make our convention

Font Size:

Tomorrow night’s RNC schedule has a very mysterious “To Be Announced” just before Marco Rubio and Mitt Romney are set to speak. Punditry is all about speculating on things you don’t know anything about, so this is perfect. People are buzzing. “Who is the mystery speaker?”

Yesterday Jamie Weinstein came up with a list of five possibles: Joe Lieberman, Colin Powell, Nancy Reagan, Tim Tebow, and…

Nah. Couldn’t be. Could not be.

Or… could it??

Guy Benson, Townhall.com:

A well-placed Republican source tells Townhall that Oscar-winning director and actor Clint Eastwood will travel to Tampa, Florida to attend Mitt Romney’s nominating convention this week. As the news media scrambles to identify the so-called “mystery speaker” scheduled to address GOP delegates on Thursday evening, some have speculated that the iconic Hollywood figure could fit the bill. Our source — who spoke on the condition of anonymity — could not confirm if Eastwood is, in fact, the intriguing “to-be-announced” speaker, but stated unequivocally that the Dirty Harry star will arrive in Florida late on Wednesday or early on Thursday, and will return to southern California on Friday. Eastwood endorsed Romney earlier this month and backed Sen. John McCain’s presidential bid in 2008.

I think Mr. Weinstein might’ve nailed it. If so, that’ll definitely win back the fans Clint lost with this:

Ooof. It wasn’t all Clint’s fault, though. He probably didn’t realize he was cutting an Obama promo. They played him.

Anyway, that’s all in the past. Welcome back, Clint. Hope tomorrow night you add a few new quotes to your list:
