Instead of sprinkling the bed with rose petals or writing a message in the sky with a jet, Alexey Byvok wanted to propose to his girlfriend in an original and totally bizarre way. So he decided to fake his own death.

The Russian citizen hired a director, cameramen, actors and a makeup artist to make it appear that he had perished in a terrible car accident.

“I wanted her to realize how empty her life would be without me and how life would have no meaning without me,” Byvok, who clearly has a flair for the dramatic, told The Sun in London.

He called up his girlfriend, Irena Kolokov, and told her to meet him at the location of the “crash” where she would find him “dead.”

“Then when I saw Alexy covered in blood lying in the road a paramedic told me he was dead and I just broke down in tears,” Kolokov told the UK’s “Orange” website.

Then — surprise! — Byvok, covered in poorly done fake blood, jumped up and got on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage.

Kolokov accepted, but said, “I was so cross I almost killed him again, but for real this time.”

We wonder what Alexey has up his sleeve for their one-year wedding anniversary. “Surprise, honey!” he might shout. “I just killed your entire family. Just wanted to make sure that you still meant that whole ’til death do us part’ thing.”
