In a promo video for the official Democratic National Convention broadcast, President Barack Obama has an urgent phone call to make.

“Hey this is Barack. Listen, I need to know if you’re on board,” he says to an unidentified person on the other line from a phone in the White House. “I’m counting on you. Everybody is. We have to get this right. So there’s a lot at stake. Just remember that I’m trusting you on this and I’ll see you there.”

The camera then pans to Harold and Kumar from the “Harold & Kumar” films, which follow the two stoner buddies and their crazy but endearing antics. Harold and Kumar sit on a couch surrounded by empty pizza boxes an orange soda, similar to what they are wont to do in the films.

“Who was that? It sounded intense,” Harold, played by John Cho, says.

“The president,” says Kumar, played by Kal Penn. The pair then start giggling at something on the TV, seemingly unfazed by a direct call from the President of the United States, presumably because they are stoned.

Penn famously swapped an acting career for a gig in the Obama administration, and is now hosting the DNC broadcast at BarackObama.com on Thursday.
