CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Planned Parenthood rally outside Charlotte’s NASCAR Hall of Fame featured Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, contraception activist Sandra Fluke, and actress Aisha Tyler — and Romney/Ryan-themed condoms.

The pro-Obama event headlined by Planned Parenthood was held in conjunction with the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina’s largest city. It featured a fleet of women, and some men, donning pink shirts with the words “Yes We Plan” on the front.

The year “2012” also appeared on the shirts, with the zero in the shape of a pack of birth control pills. The rally itself focused on women’s access to health care and abortion.

Volunteers at he event handed out colorful condoms in packages with the slogan “PROTECT YOURSELF FROM ROMNEY & RYAN IN THIS ELECTION.” The package’s inside flap advised the user to “LEARN THE FACTS ABOUT ROMNEY & RYAN.”

The condom within the packet read “PROPER ATTIRE Required for entry.”

During an appearance Monday evening on MSNBC, Fluke lashed out at Fox News host Bill O’Reilly for joking about the possibility that condoms might drop from the ceiling — not balloons — following her speech at the Democratic National Convention.

“I think it’s clearly offensive to see a bunch of guys sitting around laughing about dropping condoms on a woman,” Fluke said.”“Obviously, that’s offensive. But I try to just not pay attention to it, look past it and focus on the policies that I care about.”
