And now it’s time to play Guess That Party: Trenton Edition

NBC New York:

Federal authorities arrested Trenton, N.J., Mayor Tony Mack and more than half a dozen other people early Monday in connection with an ongoing corruption probe, NBC 4 New York has learned.

Mack faces federal charges including conspiracy to obstruct commerce by extortion. Joseph “JoJo” Giorgianni, a top campaign contributor, and six others were also taken into custody…

Mack and the others arrested Monday were brought to the FBI office in Hamilton for processing and are scheduled to appear in federal court.

Hey, which political party does Mack belong to? I read the entire story from the professional journalists at NBC New York, and it doesn’t say whether he’s a Democrat or a Republican. How do you write an entire story about a city mayor being handcuffed by the feds without mentioning that?

“Well, he can’t be a Democrat, because Democrats are the good guys. Therefore, he must be a Republican. Take that, wingnuts!” Guess that’s what we’re supposed to think.

Whenever there’s a story about a politician in trouble and his political affiliation isn’t specified, that means he’s a Democrat. If he’s a Republican, it’ll be in the first paragraph, if not the headline.

And they think you won’t notice.
