Canada sure knows how to start ’em young. A dance studio in British Columbia is now offering pole dancing lessons for children as young as five.

The Twisted Grip Dance and Fitness Studio will offer “Little Spinners” classes this fall that will teach young girls to do acrobatics on a pole in a fashion extremely similar to what the ladies do at topless bars.

Twisted Grip’s owner Kristy Craig told Canada’s National Post that it was her adult clients that came up with the idea for children’s pole dancing lessons.

“My existing students were asking about it for their children. They were saying, ‘My daughter plays on my pole at home all the time, I’d love her to actually learn how to do things property and not hurt herself,’” Craig, who was never an exotic dancer, said.

She said that kids as young as five are enrolled, and that one boy is in the $70 class.

Pole dancing has become a popular form of exercise in the last few years because of the purported fitness elements.

Tammy Morris, a former adult entertainer and president of the Canadian Pole Fitness Association (yes, it’s a real thing) said that kids don’t associated pole dancing with stripping.

“The kids just love it,” Morris told National Post. “They have no association with it or think there is anything wrong or bad about it. That’s an adult putting that on them.”

Craig said that she teaches kids the same moves that she teaches the adults, but that it is “strictly for fitness.”

“I treat it just like gymnastic classes. I don’t teach any of the adult moves,” Craig said. “The sexuality is being taken out of it. It’s highlighting the gymnastic, athletic and circus acrobatics aspect.”

Whatever happened to soccer?
