In a statement unsurprisingly littered with football metaphors, legendary quarterback John Elway announced Monday that he is endorsing the Republican presidential ticket.
“I am endorsing Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan for President and Vice President because I know having the courage to make decisions and tackle challenges is what leads to results and real change. America needs a comeback team – Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are that team,” Elway said.
Elway, who was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2004 took the Denver Broncos to the Super Bowl five times in his 15 year career before becoming executive vice president of football operations for the Broncos. “He’s had to overcome challenges during his career, and he knows what it takes to turn things around when things get tough,” Romney said of Elway in the release.
