Last year, Mustapha Farrakhan, Jr. was the scoring leader for the University of Virginia’s basketball team — thirty years after his grandfather, Louis Farrakhan, became the leader of the Nation of Islam.

The Nation of Islam has been accused of being anti-Semitic and black supremacist. Louis Farrakhan’s son, Mustapha, Sr., is now the supreme captain of the organization.

But Farrakhan, Jr., also known as Li’l Mu, is pursuing professional ball — not politics. After playing guard for UVA from 2007 to 2011, Farrakhan, Jr. was picked up by the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA D-league, averaging nine points a game.

Farrakhan, Jr. is now on the Milwaukee Bucks’ training camp roster — the last hoop he will have to jump through before playing for the regular-season team.
