In a post about tax policy, a candidate for the state senate in Maine said she wanted to “drown” Grover Norquist, the President of Americans for Tax Reform, in her “bathtub.”

Colleen Lachowicz, a Democrat, wrote the post for The Daily Kos about tax policy:

“I want a tax policy that allows our country to respond to poeple in need. I want a tax policy that puts the grown-ups in charge. I want a tax policy that addresses the inequities and racial disparities in our country. I want a tax policy that doesn’t leave the poor, sick and brown to fend for thesmelves. I want a tax policy that funds cities and addresses real known risks to our citizens.

“Now is the time to demand this. The insanity has gone on long enough. Individuals like me and others can not respond like a funded and organized government effort. Now if you’ll excuse me, I may have to go hunt down Grover Norquist and drown HIM in my bathtub.”

Lachowicz posted the item in 2005.

Lachowicz’s alter ego is her avatar on World of Warcraft. In another Daily Kos post entitled: “Daily Kos World of Warcraft Guild Update: Orc Girls are Easy!” she explains her role in the game as Santiaga, “a level 68 orc rogue girl.” If that means nothing to you, she explains, “That means I stab things…a lot… Who would have thought that a peace-lovin’, social worker and democrat would enjoy that?!”

She is a member of a guild called “Wreck List,” which, she explains in the post, makes the game “more fun.”

“You can also chat with your guild friends while playing,” she writes. “Why just last week another kossack and I were discussing whether Bush and Cheney were more like Pinky and the Brain or Beavis and Butthead. Initially I thought Beavis and Butthead, but after much thought I agree with my guild mate- they are more like Pinky and the Brain.”

Laschowicz posts as “cmairead” on The Daily Kos. The profile for “cmairead” does not list a full name, but a post from one of her “guildmates” identifies her. The post is titled: “Daily Kos World of Warcraft Guild Update: Santiaga for ME State Senate!” and was posted by Moody Loner.

“One of our original founding members, Colleen Lachowicz, better known in the guild as Santiaga or Ralista, is running for the Maine State Senate,” the post says, praising Lachowicz. A comment from “cmairead” called “Thank You,” identifies her as Lachowicz, otherwise known as Santiaga.

“Santi here!” she wrote. “I’ve been at work all day, then a meeting with area leaders and potential volunteers. I hadn’t eaten so I came home we went out to grab some food. Yes, I will make you all proud and it won’t even require an epic dagger.”

The Maine Republican Party has created a website, Colleen’s World, to highlight these remarks and is sending mailers highlighting some of her more controversial remarks.

Reached by phone, Laschowicz said she was unable to comment at the time.
