Libs begin to think the unthinkable: Is Obama fallible?

Font Size:

I know. I know. It’s heresy. Such thoughts are just plain racist. Obama is the Lightbringer. He is a perfect being — the perfect being — immaculate and without flaw. Those actions seen by lesser beings as “mistakes” are all part of his master plan. You’re just not smart enough to see it. None of you.

Nonetheless, WaPo’s Chris Cillizza writes:

In his closing remarks at the first debate in Denver last week, President Obama uttered the following sentence: “Four years ago, I said that I’m not a perfect man and I wouldn’t be a perfect president.”

For anyone who has watched Obama campaign for a second term this year, the phrase is old hat — part of the president’s seemingly self-effacing acknowledgment that he has, is and will continue to make mistakes but that he does so in the service of trying to do the right thing.

But the now-familiar phrase took on a different — and more troubling — meaning for the president in the debate as it capped a decidedly desultory performance that left even his most loyal allies wondering what was wrong with him.

Obama’s debate performance also raised a bigger question: Is he overrated as a candidate?

Four years ago, that question would have been unimaginable.

It’s unimaginable now! How would you go about “overrating” Obama, anyway? Oh, okay, so when I point out the fact that not only is Obama the greatest president in American history, he’s actually the greatest human being in the history of the world, I’m somehow “overrating” him? Nice try, wingnut.

As for the debate, maybe Obama was “desultory” because debates are dumb and who cares anyway. Ever think about that? I mean, what’s the point of putting Obama in front of a microphone if other people are allowed to talk?

Well, enjoy your “victory,” wingnuts. It’s already over. Team Obama had a case of debate shellshock (the clinical term is Post-Forensic Stress Disorder), but they’ve bounced right back, according to The Hill:

President Obama’s campaign aggressively hit back against Mitt Romney’s foreign policy speech on Monday, challenging the GOP nominee to “bring it on.”

“Mitt Romney once again tried to engage the president on foreign policy, and we have a simple message for him: Bring it on,” said Obama campaign press secretary Ben LaBolt.

That’s right! Just, um, don’t bring it on when Obama’s standing 7 feet away, because he doesn’t like that and it’s not fair.

Update: Team Obama knocks Romney for not showing up… on Nickelodeon. Oooh, he’s such a big man when it comes to answering policy questions in a room full of adults. But now he’s chicken that he’ll get asked about killing Big Bird. Chicken!
