Instead of directing people to a hotline to report cases fungal meningitis, Florida Gov. Rick Scott publicized a number for a very different kind of service: an adult phone line.

Call the 866 number that he promoted, according to WUSF News, and a recording of a woman’s voice says: “Hello boys, thank you for calling me on my anniversary.”

The news organization learned this the hard way, when they posted the number that Scott had rattled off during a cabinet meeting on their website as part of a story.

“We were quickly notified by a reader that the number instead connected to an adult telephone line,” the publication wrote.

A Scott spokesman told them that the wrong number was an accident on the governor’s part.

There is currently an outbreak of meningitis in the country; on Tuesday, the Florida Department of Health confirmed the first Florida death as a result of that outbreak.
