Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and first lady Michelle Obama have at least one thing in common: a public focus on health.

The one-time Republican candidate for vice president, who was recently seen sporting a new, thinner look, is in the process of penning a health and fitness book with her family, People magazine revealed Wednesday.

“Our family is writing a book on fitness and self-discipline focusing on where we get our energy and balance as we still eat our beloved homemade comfort foods!” Palin wrote to the magazine.

Palin was featured in Runner’s World in 2009 and, in an interview with the magazine, said her family has long been interested in fitness.

“I grew up in a running family. My parents caught the running craze in the mid ’70s, and we grew up doing family runs. I’ve been running now easy for 35 years,” Palin told Runner’s World.

Palin told The Wall Street Journal in 2008 that she and her family also stick to healthy diet.

“My family and I eat a healthy diet heavy in wild Alaskan seafood, moose, caribou and fresh fruit,” she said. “I guess my biggest pitfall is breakfast. I know it’s the most important meal of the day, but I still haven’t bought into it. I hate to admit it, but a skinny white-chocolate mocha is my staple in the morning.”

Palin is already set to sell her lifestyle to the rest of the country.

“We promise you what we do works and allows a fulfilling quality of life and sustenance anyone can enjoy,” she added to People.

Palin, who often communicates with her supporters on Facebook, has not yet mentioned the new project on her social networking page.
