Here’s why stupid people think Biden won the debate

Font Size:

If you’re a normal person and you watched Thursday night’s debate, you probably said one of two things:

  1. “How the hell did this wackjob get to within a heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States?”
  2. “Isn’t there anything else on TV tonight?”

More likely, you said both and then did something about it.

If you’re a liberal, you probably said something like this:

“HAW HAW, BIDEN SURE KICKED THAT NERD’S ASS, LOL!!!”

For your sake, I hope you’re not a liberal. But if you’ve been on the Internet over the last few days, you’ve seen some variation of this sentiment. And you’ve come to the same conclusion I have: These people are morons.

This is self-evident, but it only explains the second half of the equation. It only explains why these morons would say such a thing. It doesn’t explain the — for lack of a better word — “reasoning” behind such a ridiculous idea in the first place.

Ace of Spades has been pondering this conundrum:

I think what they think is this: Romney won the first debate because he contradicted everything Obama said. Hence, the winner of any debate is the one who contradicts the most. Biden contradicted the most, ergo he wins.

But… that’s not the rule, of course. That’s, what’s the word? Stupid.

And that’s not what Romney did. Romney didn’t just contradict Obama — he contradicted him and then offered a series of facts which supported his contradiction. In many exchanges, Obama would make an assertion — just an assertion, unsupported, and just one — and then Romney would make three supported claims undermining Obama’s assertion…

Romney did not win his debate because he contradicted Obama a lot. Obama contradicted Romney just as much, of course. Romney won the debate because he was in command, fluent with facts, clear and persuasive in explaining his underlying understanding of the economy, friendly, warm, intelligent, and… extremely presidential.

Was Biden any of those things?

You tell me.

“Nuh-uh” is not an argument. As least not if you’ve grown emotionally past the age of four.

No wonder so many libs are so happy with Biden.
