After remaining relatively low-key about her grandson’s courtship of Taylor Swift, Kennedy clan matriarch Ethel Kennedy publicly lent her imprimatur to the Grammy-winning recording artist at a charity golf tournament in Hyannisport, Mass. on Oct. 12.

“She is just spectacular,” Kennedy gushed in an interview with the Cape Cod Times. “She’s just sensational. She’s very kind. You know what she really is? She’s game. She had never sailed before. She had never gone dragging before. She played anything that everyone else was doing, and she was good at it. No fuss. I’m happy we’ll be neighbors. I’m thrilled.”

The endorsement should come as a relief to Swift, who was publicly shamed by Victoria Kennedy for crashing the Liam Kerr-Kyle Kennedy wedding in August.

Swift and Conor were reportedly asked not to attend the wedding. They did. They were also asked to leave twice: once during dinner, and then again when they returned for the reception.

Swift’s agent denied the report, saying that not only was she invited to the wedding, but the bride thanked her for being there.

But regardless of what actually happened, Ethel Kennedy’s approval means that’s Swift’s status among the Kennedy clan seems secure for the time being.
