‘Binders full of women’ rises in Google user search interest during presidential debate

Republican nominee Mitt Romney’s “binders full of women” was a hit among Google users during Tuesday evening’s presidential debate: The phrase was boosted to third place in rising search interest during the duel.

Despite sparking a meme craze the following day, however, it did not rank among the top four related searches with Obama and Romney.

Forty-five percent of of 4,486 American Google users polled during a Google Consumers Surveys prior to the second presidential debate said that they were not planning on watching the event.

Google, according to digital insights intelligence company comScore, held 66.7 of the search-engine market in September 2012, performing 10.9 billion searches.
