A senior adviser for Rep. Todd Akin’s senate campaign doubled down on a comparison between Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill and a dog on Monday, discussing exactly what kind of dog she would be.

“If Claire McCaskill were a dog, she’d be a ‘Bullshitsu’,” tweeted Rick Tyler on Monday.

The comment comes on the heels of Akin comparing his opponent to a dog on Saturday.

“She goes to Washington, D.C., it’s a little bit like one of those dogs, ‘fetch,’” Akin said. “She goes to Washington, D.C., and gets all of these taxes and red tape and bureaucracy and executive orders and agencies and brings all of this stuff and dumps it on us in Missouri.”

The comments were first reported by PoliticMo.

Tyler’s comment has origins in the movie Dumb and Dumber, when Harry, played by Jeff Daniels, says: “One time, we successfully mated a bulldog with a Shih-Tzu … Yeah, we called it a bullshit.”

Asked for comment, McCaskill spokeswoman Caitlin Legacki said: “We’ll leave it to Missouri voters to make judgments about the language being used by Todd Akin’s campaign.”

“It’s a joke,” emailed Tyler. “Get it?”
