“Pelosi Statement on Passing of Former Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter,” the title to Pelosi’s initial statement regarding the jobs report read, the same title her office circulated when Specter passed on October 14.
The actual statement did pertain to the jobs report, not celebrating Specter’s life.
A Pelosi spokeswoman told The Daily Caller that the headline was a mistake due to a new email system.
“[W]e have a new email system and it was an inadvertent error. Corrected statement was sent out,” the spokeswoman emailed TheDC.
Pelosi’s actual statement about the jobs numbers was not an obituary but an ovation for the economy under President Barack Obama.
“President Obama and Democrats are focused on putting people to work, cutting deficits responsibly, and extending tax relief for millions of middle-income Americans,” she said in part. “We are committed to reigniting the American Dream, building ladders of opportunity for anyone willing to work hard, take responsibility, and play by the rules. And we have work to do.”
