University of Maryland star linebacker Demetrius Hartsfield won’t be able to play for the rest of the season, after suffering a torn ACL during Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech.

Hartsfield is the fifth player on the team to sustain a season-ending injury, according to The Diamondback.

Maryland has already lost four quarterbacks. Their starting quarterback, C.J. Brown, tore his ACL before the season began. Torn ACLs also claimed two replacement quarterbacks in October.

The team is currently relying on a linebacker who played quarterback in high school, Shawn Petty, to fill the key position.

This strange chain of back luck has contributed to Maryland’s disappointing record of 4-5, 2-3 in the ACC.
