Michael Moore thanks Hurricane Sandy for Obama win

On Wednesday, liberal filmmaker Michael Moore joined pundit Chris Matthews in thanking Hurricane Sandy for causing dozens of deaths and widespread destruction across the Eastern Seaboard.

In an enthusiastic blog post titled “Morning in America,” Moore said the deadly storm had proven global warming skeptics wrong.

“And you, Mother Nature, with all your horrific damage, death and destruction you caused last week, you became, ironically, the undoing of a Party that didn’t believe in you or your climate changing powers,” Moore wrote.

Matthews, who hosts “Hardball” on liberal network MSNBC, said after President Barack Obama’s re-election that he was “glad” Hurricane Sandy had hit. He later apologized. (RELATED VIDEO: Matthews claims storm helped Democrats)

In his blog post, Moore also thanked the Occupy movement, contraceptive access advocate Sandra Fluke and the “minimum wage worker” who secretly recorded Mitt Romney’s disparaging remarks about the 47 percent of Americans he said pay no income tax.

“Thank you Todd Akin for…well, for just being you,” Moore added, taunting the unsuccessful Senate candidate for his comment about women’s bodies being able to naturally terminate pregnancies that result from “legitimate rape.”

“Thank you CEOs of Chrysler and GM for coming out forcefully against the Republican(!) candidate, saying he lived in “some parallel universe” when he lied about Jeep. Thank you Governor Christie for your new bromance with Obama. You know, you really didn’t have to!” Moore wrote.

The post also urged Obama to act like a “boss” and “make the banks and Wall Street pay.”

In recent months, Moore’s support for the president had been muted.

“I wouldn’t say I support him. I would say I will vote for him,” Moore said in August during a panel discussion at the Traverse City Film Festival.
