Dez Dickerson is awesome

Who’s Dez Dickerson? This guy.

He played guitar for Prince in the ’80s, and you might recognize him if you’ve seen the videos for “Little Red Corvette” and “1999.” And… he’s a conservative??? Yep. Or as he calls it, a clear thinker. And he’s really good at explaining why.

Here he is talking to Dana Loesch yesterday about the culture war, and the uphill battle conservatives face in a society where the word “conservative” itself has been demonized:

“The truth will work if we work it.” I need to believe he’s right, despite what happened on Tuesday, or else there’s no point in trying. The high point of the campaign for Romney was that first debate, where people finally got to see the truth without the filter of Obama’s disgustingly cynical smear campaign. That disgustingly cynical smear campaign ended up working, but there was that one moment where Romney got to speak directly to America. We got to see the truth.

Of course, Obama then started yelling about Big Bird and all that other nonsense, and now… here we are. Maybe we really have become a nation of spoiled children, and there’s no point trying to talk to us like adults. I don’t know.

Anyway, the point is, I really like this Dickerson cat. Maybe over the next four years, more clear thinkers in the entertainment industry will step up and explain what they believe and why.

P.S. On the other hand, maybe the ladies of The View are right, and dividing people by race and gender and whatever else really works. It’s depressing and stupid and cynical, but after Tuesday, it’s tough to argue with it.

P.P.S. As usual, David Burge sums it up:
