Actress and activist Jada Pinkett Smith, wife of actor Will Smith, told The Daily Caller on Capitol Hill that she is meeting with Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Barack Obama, at the White House on Wednesday.

“As you know, President Obama spoke about human trafficking and the idea of it not being tolerated in this country, and I do plan on sitting down with our president and speaking to him personally about this issue,” the actress told TheDC after an event with Ohio Republican Sen. Rob Portman and Connecticut Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal that celebrated the launch of the Senate Caucus to End Human Trafficking.

“I’m actually going to the White House today to speak to Valerie [Jarrett],” she said. “The White House is very passionate about getting involved and figuring out how to tackle this issue.” (RELATED VIDEO: Will Smith, Pinkett Smith attend unveiling of human trafficking report with Hillary Clinton)

The meeting with Jarrett will take place on a busy day at the White House. President Obama delivered his first press conference since his re-election in the East Room of the White House earlier on Wednesday.

The actress told TheDC she is focused on advocating for passage of the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2011, adding that she’s “doggone proud” that both Republicans and Democrats are involved with the issue on Capitol Hill.

“That’s what America looks like,” she said.
