Olympic soccer player Hope Solo and her beau, NFL tight end Jerramy Stevens, wed after police were called to a home in the early hours of Monday morning where there was evidence of a physical fight between the two.
Stevens was arrested early Monday for fourth-degree domestic violence assault, but was not charged, The Associated Press reports.
Police responded to a disturbance call around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, where they found Stevens with blood on his shirt and Solo with a cut on her elbow. Solo’s brother had called law enforcement, saying that there had been an altercation with unknown men who had already left, but police found Stevens hiding.
The two athletes had been dating for two months before applying for a marriage license. They had been arguing about whether to live in Seattle or Florida after their nuptials.
Solo has won two gold medals: One at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the second at the 2012 London Olympics.
Stevens was a tight end for the Seattle Seahawks from 2002 to 2006, then played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2007 to 2010 before being released as a free agent. Stevens has been charged before with a DUI, reckless driving and marijuana possession. He has also been arrested for charges of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery and sexual assault.
