During Sunday night’s Soul Train Awards on BET, actor Jamie Foxx told an enthusiastic audience that he’d like to “give honor to God and our lord and savior, Barack Obama.”
Foxx was a vocal supporter of Obama during his re-election campaign and performed at a fundraiser for the president alongside Jason Mraz and DJ J-Boogie last year, according to the Los Angeles Times
Some commenters online have pointed out that Foxx is a comedian and could have meant the statement as satire, but many are offended by his casual use of religious terminology.
Foxx told The Hollywood Reporter actor’s roundtable that “Republicans don’t take jokes very well.”
Maybe Foxx should think of funnier jokes.
