Jeb vs. Hillary: Americans love royalty

Now that we’re over talking about how Mitt Romney (son of George Romney) lost the election, the big news on American TV (and websites!) today is that Kate Middleton is pregnant.

This comes on the heels of other big news that Jesse Jackson, Jr. resigned from Congress. It also comes as speculation swirls about Hillary Clinton’s presidential aspirations.

(Just last week, speculation was that Jeb Bush might also run)

If Jeb (President George’s brother) runs against Hillary (President Bill’s wife), expect Bill Kristol (son of Irving) and Jonah Goldberg (son of Lucianne) to be all over it. Dick Morris (former adviser to Bill and Hill) is probably already working on a “Hillary vs. Jeb” book.

Of course, we’re all just biding time until Tagg Romney and George P. Bush take on the Kennedy kids!

Brands matter, and there’s something to be said for having a family business (I’m hoping my sons skip journalism and elected politics, and go straight to the Supreme Court — but that’s just me).

But while Americans surely love dynasties, I’m thinking it might be more fun to see the baton passed to a Marco Rubio or a Bobby Jindal.

That’s my take, at least. Watch me discuss this with Bill Scher here.
