Did Anna Wintour just receive a boost for her candidacy for a coveted ambassadorship, or the kiss of death?

The Vogue magazine editor and top Obama campaign bundler is rumored to be in consideration to become the next American ambassador to Britain or France. On Wednesday, she received the endorsement of President Barack Obama’s billionaire arch-nemesis.

“I am happy to hear that Pres.Obama is considering giving Anna Wintour @voguemagazine an ambassadorship. She is a winner & really smart!,” real-estate mogul Donald Trump tweeted.

Trump was a constant presence criticizing Obama during the 2012 presidential race, often in cartoonish terms. He was also a major proponent of the birther conspiracy that suggested President Obama may have been born in Kenya, even refusing to entirely drop the issue after Obama released his birth certificate.

After flirting with running for president himself, Trump ultimately endorsed Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.

According to the Washington Post, if Wintour is to be appointed to a prestigious ambassadorship, it will likely not happen for months, until a replacement for Hillary Clinton at the State Department is nominated and confirmed.
