Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio forced a construction crew working on campus to halt work and remove a “Men Working” sign before continuing, according to National Review. Sinclair officials deemed the sign “sexist.”
A Sinclair official said the decision to force the sign’s removal stemmed from the school’s “deep commitment to diversity.”
Since the incident, Sinclair has released a statement declaring, “while it may not have been necessary to suggest that work be stopped, Sinclair stands by its commitment to providing an environment that is inclusive and non-discriminatory.”
The “Diversity” page on the school’s website features twelve smiling headshots, likely taken sometime during the early 1990s, of Caucasian, African-American, Latino, and Asian-American men and women of different ages. The page also includes “64 site links discussing the advantage of diversity.”
