Members and neighbors of a Brooklyn church are shock after somebody stole a 4-foot tall tall outdoor of Jesus.

The white porcelain “Sacred Heart of Jesus” statue, CBS New York reported, was ripped from its base and taken in the middle of the night.

“They don’t have no heart at all because to do that is a sin,” Myrna Troche, an area resident told the CBS affiliate.

The statue was a feature in front of the 1,500 member congregation of Saints Peter and Paul Church for over a decade in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn.

“It’s a sign of the presence of God among his people. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is one of the most famous expressions of religious devotion in our Catholic world,” Rev. Manuel de Jesus Rodriguez told CBS.

“We are concerned more for the people. We like to leave our two churches open the whole day for people to come to have some quiet time of prayer,” he added. “Our two churches are full of statues and religious symbols so we really don’t like to think that this is kind of an announcement that a religious attack is happening.”

According to the report, NYPD’s Hate Crimes division is looking into the incident but has yet to rule on whether or not it is a hate crime.
