A law enforcement official said 20-year-old Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter Adam Lanza used guns registered to his mother to commit the massacre on Friday.

Lanza killed his mother, 54-year-old Nancy Lanza, at her home, before taking the lives of 20 children and 6 adults at the school in Newtown, Connecticut.

The Associated Press reports that the official said “a Glock and a Sig Sauer, both pistols, and a .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle were found in the school after the massacre Friday.”

Nancy Lanza reportedly was a “big gun fan,” according to the New York Times.

“She had several different guns,” said an acquaintance of Nancy Lanza. “She would go target shooting with her kids.”

Nancy Lanza taught her son how to shoot, according to The New York Daily News.

Lanza shot his mother in the “3,100-square-foot house they shared before taking her car and driving over to Sandy Hook to commit mass murder,” the paper said.
