WASHINGTON — Vice President Joe Biden signaled Tuesday that the Obama administration is in no hurry to publicize specifics on its gun control plans.
Biden responded to a shouted question from The Daily Caller about the administration’s apparent plan to push for new gun control after last week’s massacre at a Connecticut elementary school.
Asked by TheDC in the hallways of the Capitol about what gun control measures he wants to push, Biden replied, “We’ve got plenty of time to talk about that,” before dashing away.
It has been reported that President Obama has asked Biden, in the aftermath of the shooting, to lead an effort to come up with a list of gun control policies for the administration to push.
Biden was at the Capitol on Tuesday for the swearing in of Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy as Senate pro tempore following the Monday death of Hawaii Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, who had served in the position.
The vice president’s visit to the Capitol was last minute. An aide to Biden was overheard in the Capitol reminding reporters that today is the 40th anniversary of the tragic car accident that killed his wife and daughter in 1972. Biden had planned to be home in Wilmington, Delaware, according to the White House.
