The Daily Caller has learned that Hollywood actor and political activist Ben Affleck met with Democratic Massachusetts Senator John Kerry during a Wednesday visit to Capitol Hill.

CBS Boston’s John Keller reported Tuesday that Affleck’s name has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Kerry if President Obama chooses him as Secretary of State.

Affleck, who grew up in Cambridge, is the founder of the Eastern Congo Initiative. He testified before the House Armed Services committee Wednesday about security in the region.

Kerry’s office confirmed the meeting to TheDC and said the two men were photographed together, but there was no opportunity for reporters to ask questions.

The Daily Caller’s request for comment about the discussion was not returned.
