Guns aren’t national news when they save lives

Font Size:

Everybody knows that guns are bad and we’d all be safer without them. Just ask this lady.

WSB-TV in Atlanta:

A woman hiding in her attic with children shot an intruder multiple times before fleeing to safety Friday.

The incident happened at a home on Henderson Ridge Lane in Loganville around 1 p.m. The woman was working in an upstairs office when she spotted a strange man outside a window, according to Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman. He said she took her 9-year-old twins to a crawlspace before the man broke in using a crowbar.

But the man eventually found the family.

“The perpetrator opens that door. Of course, at that time he’s staring at her, her two children and a .38 revolver,” Chapman told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh.

The woman then shot him five times, but he survived, Chapman said. He said the woman ran out of bullets but threatened to shoot the intruder if he moved.

How dare that woman protect her children from an intruder by shooting him with a gun? She should’ve just held up a picture of Piers Morgan. That’ll drive away even the most persistent wealth-redistributor.

The story of this brave woman protecting her family with a gun doesn’t fit the media’s prevailing narrative, but that’s okay because they can just ignore it. Anne Sorock notes:

The story has been completely ignored by national media. The only non-local source that had covered the story, reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution this past Friday, has been from another country: Britain’s Daily Mail. A slew of local outlets picked up on the AJC’s story covered it, including WSB-TV in Georgia, a local FOX affiliate in North Carolina. By Sunday morning, FOX news national published the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s January 4 writeup on their site.

And yet you know about it anyway, despite the media’s neglect of their duties. How about that. The gatekeepers can’t keep news from jumping the fence anymore.

P.S. Speaking of media narratives, the New York Times is trying out this one regarding the Journal News publishing the names and addresses of law-abiding gun owners: the real victims are the reporters.
