Fox News’s Facebook page was one of the top Facebook pages of 2012.

The network averaged 7,443.5 user comments per day in 2012, according to marketing blog Track Social, which on Sunday awarded the news outlet’s page with an award for the “Most Comments Per Day.”

“Buoyed by a major political event, the fans over on Fox News were fired up throughout the year, inspiring extremely high levels of post commentary,” said Track Social in a company blog post.

Track Social’s “Track Social Awards” acknowledged the brands that topped the blog’s metrics “based on 12 months of hard data,” wrote the blog.

Fox News also ranked the highest out of all of the cable news networks for the year. CNN — which came in third, after YouTube and Blackberry, for “Most User Posts Per Day” — was the only other cable news network to place in the top 10 of a category.

Facebook’s own page, which took home 8 of the 15 Facebook page awards, beat out Fox News for the awards for “Most Comments On A Post” and “Most Comments Per Post.” Fox News, however, ranked third for “Most Comments Per Post.”

The news outlet also ranked third for “Overall Engagement,” behind Subway and Disney. “Overall Engagement” rates how well the organizations’ social media presences engaged their audiences.
