The 2013 Academy Awards were announced Thursday and, while there were a few upsets, it comes as no surprise that a  Steven Spielberg three-hour long “Lincoln” leads the Academy Award nominations with 12, including best picture and best director.

The best actress category made history this year, with both the youngest and oldest nominees to ever receive a best actress Oscar nod are vying for the award this year. Nine-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis is up for “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” while Emmanuelle Riva, 85, could take home the gold for her performance in “Amour.”

The critically beloved “Silver Linings Playbook” scored eight nominations, including a nod in each acting category as well as best picture and director.
