CNN host Piers Morgan has been a focal point of the gun debate in recent days with his commentary on gun control and some of his outlandish interviews on the subject.

Morgan’s style is certainly different than his predecessor, long-time CNN host Larry King. In an interview with Marc Lamont Hill of HuffPost Live on Thursday, King laid out his opinion on how CNN’s 9 p.m. ET hour has changed under Morgan.

“I watch him occasionally,” King said. “He’s very different from me. I never gave opinions. Piers gives his opinions. The show is a lot about him, as much as the guests. I used to make the guests the star of the show. But, I like Piers personally. I’ve been on his show a few times. I wish CNN the best of luck. He’s so different from me, it’s very hard to compare styles. I just don’t work that way.”

King explained his style was much different than Morgan’s: he never wanted to be the center of attention in his broadcasts.

“A lot about today’s shows, not just Piers [but] a lot of shows, they make it about the host and the guest becomes a prop to the host,” King said. “And I never liked that.”

King said he had not been following the effort to deport Piers Morgan or his recent interview with Alex Jones.

“I thought that was kind of silly,” he said.
