It almost seems unfair to pick on Piers Morgan, but he makes it so enjoyable. I can see why the Brits enjoy it so much.
One of my favorite things about Mediaite is that they report on ratings at CNN and MSNBC as if Fox News didn’t exist. This headline is a perfect example:
Wow, Piers Morgan had better ratings than anybody else at CNN that night? What an achievement. That’s like winning a slamdunk contest against the Lollipop Guild.
So of course, Morgan is now boasting about his dominance over, um, CNN:

At least he’s honest enough to admit he’s only trolling America with his gun-grabbing babble as a desperate ratings ploy. But hey, it’s working! On Tuesday, the night after Morgan’s epoch-making interview with Alex Jones, his ratings surged to… um… a slightly less distant third place:
Ouch.
In related news, Morgan has also maneuvered the White House into providing yet more evidence that they don’t know anything about the Constitution, U.S. history, or pretty much anything else. Patrick Howley reports:
White House press secretary Jay Carney issued a factually incorrect response Wednesday to the White House petition to deport British-born CNN host Piers Morgan, wrongly claiming that Morgan, who has launched repeated televised attacks on the Second Amendment, is protected from deportation by the First Amendment…
However, as the Daily Caller reported in December, the First Amendment does not protect Morgan from possible deportation in this case.
Wall Street Journal columnist James Taranto explained on Twitter December 22 the legal precedent that prevents Morgan from citing the First Amendment to protect his status in the United States:
“Your opinion is protected, your presence in the U.S. is not. See Kleindienst v. Mandel (1972),” Taranto replied to Morgan.
Taranto linked to transcripts from a 1972 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that the U.S. Attorney General’s refusal to allow a foreign journalist into the United States did not violate the First Amendment.
Of course, facts are no obstacle to Piers Morgan’s unstoppable self-regard:
