Someone at NBC actually thinks that a sitcom about Jessica Simpson’s life is a great idea.

The network is developing a pilot starring Jessica Simpson about Jessica Simpson, Vulture reports.

Ben Silverman, chairman of the production company working with NBC on the pilot, said that Simpson is “truly a modern-day Lucy” — as in the legendary Lucille Ball.

Simpson has starred in such classic films as the “Dukes of Hazzard” remake and “Employee of the Month” and “Major Movie Star,” which went straight to DVD.

The pilot is being written by Nick Bakay, who penned “Paul Blart: Mal Cop” so you know it’s going to be great.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in December, NBC’s president of entertainment said that the network is planning on making “broader” shows that appeal to a larger audience.

Basically, this mean that shows like “Community” and “Parks and Recreation” are going to get canceled because they are too weird and get replaced with crap like a sitcom about Jessica Simpson.
