I like to make fun of Leonardo DiCaprio, but only when he’s being an astonishing hypocrite. In other words, only when he talks about the environment.
Django Unchained and Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio says he is planning to take a significant break from filming and concentrate on his environmental campaigning.
In an interview with Germany’s mass circulation daily Bild, the 38-year-old American actor said: “I am a bit drained. I’m now going to take a long, long break. I’ve done three films in two years and I’m just worn out.”
“I would like to improve the world a bit. I will fly around the world doing good for the environment,” added DiCaprio, in comments published in German.
Maybe it loses something in the translation into German and back again? Maybe he was making a joke? The Germans aren’t really known for their grasp of irony. I’ll bet DiCaprio was smirking and elbowing the interviewer in the ribs when he said that.
He definitely wasn’t joking about his workload, though. Can you imagine how grueling it must be, making three whole movies in two years? The rest of us could probably only manage one or two. No wonder he needs a break to spew carbon into the atmosphere so he can tell the rest of us how to live our lives.
But wait, it gets better:
“My roof is covered with solar panels. My car is electric. A normal person does not drive more than 50km a day. That can be done with a plug.”
Silence, you lowly serfs. The lord of the manor is addressing you. From above. Literally. See? There’s his jet trail.
I haven’t seen Django Unchained yet, but I’m assuming DiCaprio gets killed up pretty good? Hmmm, I might have to check that out…
