Lefties to Romney: “Get back here so we can boo you!”

Font Size:

For most of 2012, our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters on the left screamed at Mitt Romney to go away: “Get lost, you tax-dodging, cancer-causing moneybags! And take your dancing horse with ya!”

So he did. And now that’s a problem.

MSNBC:

Mitt Romney has kept an aggressively low profile since getting blown out by President Obama on Nov. 6. So perhaps it’s no surprise that he didn’t travel to Washington, D.C. for today’s inauguration. But the failed GOP presidential nominee reportedly didn’t even watch the event on TV.

Romney put out word through people close to him that he wasn’t going to watch President Obama take his ceremonial oath on Monday. Instead, he planned to be at one of his homes in La Jolla, Calif.

A Romney aide told NBC the former Massachusetts governor and his wife Ann have “no big plans.” And when asked if he’d watch the ceremonies, the aide said, “doubtful.”

If Romney had showed up, I’m sure they’d have had nothing but good things to say about that.

New York magazine:

An aide tells NBC News that Romney had “no big plans” for today, and found it “doubtful” he would watch the ceremony on TV. So it’s not clear exactly how Romney spent the day, but we’re guessing Giant Poolside Jenga. If there’s one thing that could cheer up Romney on a day like today, it’s Giant Poolside Jenga.

TBogg:

While President Uppity McBlahman was drone-raping Lady Liberty and ordering a hit on Nancy Reagan, first runner-up Mitt Romney was kicking back at his La Jolla beach temple, soaking up the rays and trying to ignore the sound of wailing coming from Ann’s dancing horse dojo…

HuffPo:

After losing the 2012 presidential election, Inauguration Day likely provided little joy for former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney. While an aide to the former Massachusetts governor told NBC News that he was with family in La Jolla, Calif. — where it was “doubtful” that he would watch the ceremony — Romney is set to get his own celebration on Tuesday, just a day after President Barack Obama was publicly sworn into his second term.

On the second floor of the First State Bank in Norton, Kan., attendees are set to commemorate the enshrining of Romney into the “They Also Ran Gallery.” For 48 years, organizers have gathered there to raise the portrait and biography of the latest presidential election loser.

The Moderate Voice:

For the aged, waking up every morning comes as a gift. Yesterday had a ribbon on it.

The TV screen was a flood of flags, bunting, crowds, Inaugural stands, Lincoln Bibles and all the other patriotic paraphernalia of the day. Best of all was the realization that it was not Mitt Romney being sworn into the Oval Office…

Romney, who had so many plans for Day One, spent it in sunny California, confirming what many Obama voters suspected when casting their ballots.

Don’t worry, lefties. You blamed the Republicans for everything that went wrong during President Barack Obama‘s first term, and we know you’ll blame the Republicans for everything that goes wrong during his second term. Romney just won’t be one of them, that’s all. You’ll be okay.

Paul Ryan showed up and wished President Barack Obama well, and for his trouble he was booed by the crowd and insulted by President Barack Obama himself. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the New Civility.
