Actor Wayne Knight, known for his role as Newman on Seinfeld, told The Daily Caller that he is “very happy” President Barack Obama is using the “bully pulpit” to advance gun control and immigration reform.

TheDC asked Knight what he wants President Obama to do in his second term.

“What I want him to do is keep talking the way he’s talking. Speak the truth. Use the bully pulpit, get the public to become more active,” he said at the Creative Coalition Inaugural Ball.

“He can’t do it on his own. Cooperation is great, but it’s not happening, so we’re going to have to make some noise.”

In particular, Knight supports Obama’s call for Congress to enact more gun control measures.

“I’m very happy we’re doing some reaction to the gun tragedy in the short term because we have to do it very quickly,” said Knight.

“I’m glad that he spoke about immigration,” he added.
