A 2012 Honda Civic bizarrely in the parking lot of a BJ’s Wholesale Club in Stoneham, Mass. on Sunday, after its owner used a key fob to remotely unlock its doors.

That fob, state bomb squad investigators believe, sent an electrical pulse that ignited vapors from a leaking acetylene tank stored in the car’s trunk.

The tank and other equipment belonged to the car owner’s boyfriend, who works for an HVAC company, WHDH-TV7 reported.

“I popped my trunk, and my car blew up,” the owner told the station.

The car was destroyed, and two nearby vehicles sustained damage. No one was injured.

“After interviewing witnesses and examining the evidence at the scene, it was determined that the cause of the explosion was not a criminal act, but the accidental ignition of flammable vapors,” local police said in a statement.
