Former Illinois Democratic Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. is reportedly facing “significant jail time” as a part of a plea deal related to a federal investigation into Jackson’s alleged misuse of campaign funds.

Chicago Sun-Times reporter Michael Sneed published a report Wednesday evening claiming a source had revealed that Jackson will likely serve time in a federal prison:

Sneed has learned a plea deal is now on the table between former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and federal authorities probing allegations of campaign fund misuse.

Sneed is told the plea deal includes Jackson serving time in federal prison.

“Significant jail time is now definitely a part of the deal,” said a top Sneed source close to the probe.

Jackson resigned from office in 2012 following a lengthy mental health-related absence.

The investigation into misuse of Jackson’s campaign funds reportedly determined that he spent political donations to help furnish homes in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. Jackson also reportedly bought a $40,000 Rolex watch for a female friend.
