Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul will give the “tea party response” to the State of the Union next week, the group Tea Party Express announced Friday.

Obama is set to give his annual address to Congress on Tuesday. Also that night, Republicans have tapped Florida Sen. Marco Rubio to give the official GOP response to Obama’s speech.

“We are happy to see that the Republicans have selected tea party conservative Senator Marco Rubio to deliver their response,” Tea Party Express chairman Amy Kremer said. “Both Senator Rubio and Senator Paul will articulate pro-growth messages that will resonate with the American people.”

The Tea Party Express has hosted a tea party State of the Union response for the last several years. In 2011, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann gave the speech, and in 2012, former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain gave the organization’s response.

The address will take place at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. and will be live streamed online.
