Unidentified hackers infiltrated a Montana news station on Monday, warning viewers of an unfolding “zombie apocalypse” via emergency broadcast alerts.

“Civil authorities in your area have reported that the bodies of the dead are rising from their graves and attacking the living,” read emergency messages scrolling across the screen during KRTV’s broadcast. “Do not attempt to approach or apprehend these bodies as they are considered extremely dangerous.”

The station quickly removed the alerts and apologized both on air and on its website.

“[The fake alerts] did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency,” a statement on the station’s website read. “Our engineers are investigating to determine what happened and if it affected other media outlets.”

No suspects have been named.

According to the Great Falls Tribune, the alerts generated at least four calls to police asking if they were true.
