In a nutshell, Harvey Mudd College is the math, science and engineering school of the Claremont Colleges -- a five-school consortium located on the eastern edge of the Greater Los Angeles area. The curriculum is tough and credit for AP or IB examinations isn't available. There are placement exams before classes start in the fall, though. Incoming students who do exceedingly well can test into higher-level courses.
