Depressing music singer Morrissey is officially at war with Jimmy Kimmel over the whole “Duck Dynasty” cast debacle. (RELATED: Morrissey cancels Kimmel appearance because of evil ‘animal serial killers)

The singer canceled his scheduled appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Tuesday because the cast of A&E’s most popular series was also scheduled to appear and they hunt animals for fun.

After learning of his fellow talk show guests, Morrissey sent out a statement saying, “As far as my reputation is concerned, I can’t take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers. If Jimmy cannot dump Duck Dynasty then we must step away.”

That night, Kimmel made fun of the incident during his monologue, joking that he chose the “Duck Dynasty” cast over Morrissey “because they have guns” and that Morrissey “keeps finding new ways to depress us.”

The late night show also aired a parody “Duck Dynasty” sketch about the duck call makers’ new product — a “carrot call” — for vegetarians.

Morrissey was not happy about this. On Wednesday, he slammed Kimmel via another ridiculously pedantic statement about the horrors of eating meat and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which of course correlate to jokes on a late night talk show.

“I was disappointed with last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Show wherein our smiling host managed to ridicule depression (70% of Americans have experienced depression according to the National Institute of Mental Health).”

The statement continued, “He then found time to ridicule healthy eating (the obesity epidemic in the U.S. costs $147 billion per year in medical expenditure), and he also ridiculed the notion that animals should be entitled to the possession of their own lives. Furthermore, he found time to jokingly promote gun-ownership – hugely amusing for the parents at Sandy Hook, no doubt.”

In response Kimmel came out swinging on Twitter writing, “If you have more dumb statements to make, I invite you to make them where I do, on my show” along with a photo of Morrissey’s 2004 album cover “You Are the Quarry” in which he wields a rifle.

During his opening monologue Wednesday night, Kimmel invited the singer back on to talk things out.

“This has nothing to do with people who eat meat versus people who don’t,” he said. “I’m completely respectful of people who do not eat meat, but the statement he made is ridiculous. I’d like to invite him to join the show to discuss. I’m an open, even-handed person, and I consider all points of view.”

So far, Morrissey has not yet responded with a long-winded public statement.
